This is the eleventh post in my series of posts about story arcs in the Hayate no Gotoku manga.

Nagi decides she will give Hayate a persimmon for White Day; Hayate hears she wants a persimmon and decides to find one for her. (Ch. 124)
Hayate finds a persimmon tree with Tama's assistance and fights the tree for a persimmon. (Ch. 124)
The first normal story competition is held at the Sanzenin Household with people telling boring stories. (Ch. 128)
Klaus tells a story that is important later, about how Lucky the dog disappeared. (Ch. 128)
Hayate shows his ability to authenticate paintings. (Ch. 129)
Nagi tries to find something Hayate is scared of but fails. (Ch. 129)
Hayate takes Nagi with him while he gets a new cell phone. (Ch. 130)
Nagi gets lost and becomes the boss of a group of lost children. (Ch. 130)
Sakuya gets Hayate and Wataru to promise to make her laugh on her birthday. (Ch. 131)

April Fool's Day: A Mini-Arc

Haru is brought in to teach Isumi how to be a maid. (Ch. 135)
Isumi satisfies Father and he reveals the maid thing was an April Fool's joke. (Ch. 135)

Tama's Journeys Home: A Mini-Arc
Includes chapters 136 - 137

Events
Tama gets accidentally taken to a port and wonders what he is to do. (Ch. 136)
Nagi tells the tale of how she saved Tama in Africa. (Ch. 136)
Tama wanders around aimlessly until Shiranui helps him by stealing Izumi's cell phone. (Ch. 137)
Tama posts his problem online and gets help from a random person (later revealed to be Nagi) to find his way home. (Ch. 137)
Tama saves Shiranui from the street and Hayate saves them both. (Ch. 137)

The Arc Built on Sakuya's Birthday: A Long Arc

Includes the Nagi's First Day of Work Sub-Arc, chapters 138 - 140, and Saku's Party/Hina's Confession to Ayumu Sub-Arc, chapters 141 - 146.

Nagi shows her service skills and gets Ashibashi back on track. (Ch. 139)
Maria goes undercover to check how Nagi's work is going. (Ch. 140)
Aika shows up at Sakuya's party and finds out about Chiharu's work. (Ch. 142)
A part of Chiharu's hiring is shown, particularly Haru's side up to the café. (Ch. 142)
Hinagiku invites Ayumu to see cherry blossoms with her. (Ch. 143)
Ayumu gets Hinagiku to go on a Ferris wheel so that they can talk in private; Ayumu has to comfort Hinagiku when she is overwhelmed by the height. (Ch. 144)
Nagi goes missing at Sakuya's party and the guests decide to search for her. (Ch. 144)
Hayate reveals that he would like to meet his older brother again while talking with Sakuya. (Ch. 145)
Hayate is able to find and comfort Nagi with some assistance from Sakuya. (Ch. 145)
Hinagiku confesses she likes Hayate to Ayumu and Ayumu is okay with that due to realizations she made in Shimoda. (Ch. 146)
Events/Minor
Hokuto reveals indirectly that Café Donguri is owned by the Aizawa Group. (Ch. 138)
Hayate is given control over the café for the morning. (Ch. 139)
Hayate and Ayumu talk about Nagi and agree that Nagi is happy Ayumu is around. (Ch. 140)
Hayate saves Maria from Ashibashi in a odd way. (Ch. 140)
Wataru tries his best at being comedic and fails, although Sakuya is okay with that. (Ch. 141)
Nagi and Hayate show up late and Hayate is put on the stage to perform. (Ch. 141)
Hayate does a successful comedy performance where just about all but Sakuya laugh. (Ch. 143)
Sakuya reveals she has a thing for older brother types. (Ch. 145)
Aika's Kings Jewel is shown to the reader. (Ch. 146)
The next day Nagi has fallen ill so Maria tells her to stay in bed. (Ch. 147)
Nagi feels lonely so Hayate reads her "Hinagiku as Alice in Wonderland." (Ch. 147)
Commentary
So this marks the end of the material that was pressed into service for the second anime season. The last arc, The Arc Built on Sakuya's Birthday, actually grew in size as I wrote this post. Originally it was only going to include chapters 141 - 146, but then I decided that since I was so generous with including chapters in Hinagiku's Birthday, I should probably add Nagi's First Day of Work in as it did occur on the third of April. Then another chapter was added in, chapter 147, as it didn't have anything to do with the arc that followed it and connected at least somewhat with Saku's Birthday so it was included. Enough of that though, I should be talk about this arc. I really like this arc, but it also makes me feel a bit wistful. As I noted, this arc marks the end of season two, which makes me a bit sad because I really like season two. This is also, from what I can remember, the last time for quite awhile that Ayumu's interest in Hayate is actually important. I do really like how this arc addresses Nagi's concerns about Hayate and Maria leaving her and kind of sets up a point of Golden Week. Ah, I'm starting to talk about Golden Week again so I better stop as it marks a point where I run out of things to talk about.
