Hayate and Hinagiku's First Date: A Short Arc
Includes chapters 162 - 164

Events
Hinagiku decides to be nice after talking with Ayumu and scares everybody with kindness. (Ch. 162)
Miki and Risa get Hayate to take Hinagiku to a movie to de-anger Hinagiku. (Ch. 162)
Miki and Risa keep Nagi occupied while Hayate is away. (Ch. 163)
Hayate and Hinagiku realize they are on a date while in the movie theater. (Ch.163)
Hayate and Hinagiku survive the movie theater and decide to go elsewhere after the movie is cut off. (Ch. 163)
Hayate takes Hinagiku to an amusement park, which she quite enjoys. (Ch. 164)
On the walk home from the park, Hayate explains why the day happened and Hinagiku kind-of confesses her love. (Ch. 164)
Commentary
This is a quite nice and quick arc. I like this arc, particularly the end as it shows Hinagiku taking the first step toward actually confessing to Hayate. Another thing I like about this arc is that Hinagiku figures out that her anger is the reason that Hayate misunderstands her. A quick behind-the-scenes of the post note before moving on: I originally was going to have a divided event list, but I only had one minor event noted, so the lists were combined.

Events
Kaoru thinks about his lack of a girlfriend and how Yukiji used to be quite attractive. (Ch. 165)
Fumi shows off her weirdness and Hayate gets advice from Kaoru. (Ch. 165)
Sakuya asks Hayate to help her with getting rid of a toothache. (Ch. 166)
Isumi helps Father Regeoster possess Sakuya and he takes the toothache onto himself when forced out of Sakuya. (Ch. 166)
Isumi asks Hayate to take her to Hakuou so that she can do some work. (Ch. 167)
Klaus' spirit shows up and Hayate tries to please him so he stops haunting by cross-dressing. (Ch. 167)
Nagi goes to work by herself and tells Hayate and Maria to not follow. (They do though.) (Ch. 168)
Ayumu and Nagi tell exaggerated tales of their love experiences. (Ch. 168)
Nagi rents an adult rated movie, thinking she got a pornographic one and accidentally ending up with a horror film. (Ch. 174)
The horror film makes Nagi so afraid that she has Hayate spend time with her until she falls asleep. (Ch. 174)
Makita and Kuneida open a café to find a maid for Sakuya and Haru stands out, but Sakuya is unsure. (Ch. 175)
Sakuya asks Nagi why she chose Hayate and after hearing the reason ends up in an arcade and eventually hires Haru. (Ch. 175)
Arc End
The Segawa Household: A Short Arc
Includes chapters 169 - 173

Izumi's Father (Ch. 170)
Events/Major
Miki and Risa tell Hayate Izumi has become a shut-in and when he finds that Shiranui stole Izumi's cellphone he decides to take it back. (Ch. 169)
Hayate encounters Izumi in a maid outfit at her house and decides he wants to see the rest of the house. (Ch. 169)
Izumi takes Hayate to her room and tells him that Kotetsu is her twin brother. (Ch. 170)
Miki and Risa get Izumi's father into a rage when they say that Hayate is the guy that "his child" likes. (Ch. 170)
Hayate and Izumi's father have a discussion based off of misunderstandings and eventually decide to settle their argument with a fighting match. (Ch. 171)
Izumi asks Hayate about his first girlfriend and he start crying so she comforts him. (Ch. 172)
Hayate defeats the Four Segawa Warriors and ends up fighting Kotetsu. (Ch. 172)
Hayate and Kotetsu's fight is cut short when Izumi's dress catches fire, Kotetsu puts it out with his hands, and Hayate bandages up Kotetsu's burned hands. (Ch. 173)
The cellphone is finally returned and Izumi promises to come to school. (Ch. 173)
Events/Minor
Hayate sees Izumi's collection of stuffed animals, including a very beat up one. (Ch. 170)
Miki and Risa change Izumi's clothes, since she is the reason for the fight, and find out that Izumi likes Hayate. (Ch. 171)
Maria remembers her promise to dress Hayate and Kotetsu in maid outfits and begins choosing. (Ch. 173)
Commentary
This is actually one of my favorite arcs as I like Izumi. It has a nice balance of battle and romance and a reasonable amount of Kotetsu. It is also quite nice in referencing prior events in the story, namely Tama's trip home and the hike. Overall, one of the biggest reasons I like this arc is due to the fact that it acts as a kind of intersection between older material and newer material, release-wise; it joins spring break and the new term with Golden Week.
