I am watching the finale today as I write, so this time will be interesting. This episode write-up will follow the typical format, except I will kind of merge the thoughts section with the summary. This I think is the second or third time that I have done a write-up while watching the episode, but this is the first time I am doing it during my first watching so look forward to a possibly interesting write-up I write down my thoughts as they come. Onto the write-up! (after the jump)
The episode begins in a world of many clock faces and Hayate is shown in this world. Hayate wonders if he died and a purple tanuki shows up to tell him he lives, but is in Kurotsubaki. The tanuki points out that he can only get out when the clock has both hands on the eight, but that can't happen normally so he must sing a sort of prayer so that both hands point at the eight. If he succeeds though his soul will be lost and a miracle granted to the clock holder. Of course Hayate must dress like a girl while doing this if he chooses to sing. (Poor Hayate can't get away from cross dressing even in another dimension.)
Next, Hinagiku and Miki are shown in a hallway wondering where Nagi and Maria are. We cut to Dolly demanding Kurotsubaki still and Tsugumi urging Dolly to relax so as to not overwork herself. Dolly get angry and tries to hit Tsugumi with one of her tree tentacles, but misses. Nagi asks Tsugumi if she is okay. (Maybe it is just me but Dolly seems to have anger issues when she becomes a tree.)
We shift to the outside of the wedding hall where Isumi and Sakuya are. Isumi tries to run up and attack Dolly, but Shidou blocks her way. Isumi quickly bombards Shidou with talismans and is about to take him out when Tsugumi shows up to tell Shidou to take Dolly to the Sanctuary. Tsugumi then overpowers Isumi while telling Isumi that she (Tsugumi) cannot allow Isumi to attack the woman who saved her from the desert. The physical attack angers Isumi and she enters a kind of Saginomiya hyper mode (maybe, she does at least start to have a visible aura); Sakuya advises Tsugumi to run away. (I'm happy that we got an explanation as to why Tsugumi calls Dolly "mother" as it seems that Dolly adopted Tsugumi.)
We go back into the wedding hall with Nagi, Shin and Dolly. Dolly hits the floor, the floor crumbles underneath Nagi, and Shin saves Nagi from falling. Nagi and Dolly argue again about who is in Kurotsubaki and Shin and Nagi run away with Dolly plowing a path through the ground. Shidou tries to convince Dolly that she needs to leave, but she uses a tentacle to knock him out of the sky.
Now we see what Maria and Yukiji have been doing. The thieves are holding Maria hostage still and seem to be about ready to leave the hotel in a helicopter with both the money and Maria. The lead robber (who is smoking a pipe through his mask) goes ahead. Maria throws the robber holding her off guard by saying she lost the ring Ruka gave back to her and when he lets her go she trips him. Yukiji congratulates Maria while the lead robber comes back; he sees that he is now outnumbered and runs with Yukiji planning to run after him. Unfortunately for him he runs straight into Isumi and Tsugumi's battle. Isumi takes out both quite easily (Poor Tsugumi should have listened to Saku). Hina runs into Maria and her sister and tells Yukiji to take care of Maria. Returning to Isumi, Isumi is surprised at her power and a column begins to fall on Tsugumi, but Hina comes up on the roof and eliminates the column with Shirosakura. Hina tells Isumi that she will take care of Nagi so Isumi can look after Tsugumi with Saku. (I'm not sure why Hina is so confident as it took the powers of her, Hayate, and Isumi, not to mention the knowledge of Ayumu, to take down Midas in Athens.) Nagi and Shin (who is more than living up to the reputation of the body he is in) are still running from Dolly and find a helicopter to fly away in as butlers can fly anything, apparently. They find Yukiji in there and Hina runs up and scolds her sister for coming back for the money. Dolly gets close and Nagi is about to get into the helicopter when Dolly captures her with one of her tentacles. Finally, Dolly cripples the helicopter with another of her tentacles and grows to massive size.
We shift to Ruka's concert temporarily where everybody is awed at the tree (which we know is Dolly) suddenly appearing in the background. (Quick digression here: I think I understand why Kayura went to Las Vegas with Ruka as it seems she does quite like idol singers. Either she was just being cold when she first met Ruka or has come around by the time of the anime.) Back to Dolly and Nagi, Dolly threatens to crush Nagi unless she hands over Kurotsubaki. Nagi responds with a well thought out no: she asks if Dolly would hand over Kurotsubaki if their roles were reversed. This quiets Dolly for a bit until she breaks again and says that her beloved is in Kurotsubaki. Shin starts to bother Dolly again so she murders the helicopter and Yukiji and Hina have a nice sisters moment before jumping out of the helicopter. (In this scene Hina seems pretty timid, I will just assume that she became timid due to being high up.) With Shin gone, Dolly tries to get the clock of Nagi again, but Shin isn't really gone and shows Dolly that he is the one who has Kurotsubaki. He suggests a good solution to the problem of who is in the clock, he will stab himself (well, Hayate) and whoever comes out will prove who was right. He stabs himself and there is a nice scene with Hayate and Shin (who is blond and has darkish skin) where Hayate leaves the clock and Shin enters. (If I view the scene with Shin and Hayate correctly it seems that Shin plans to sacrifice himself for the miracle so he can rejoin Yukariko.) Back in the outside world, Dolly tosses aside Nagi as she no longer needs Nagi. Dolly expects her king to be returned when the sword is drawn from Hayate's body, but she is wrong as Hayate cuts up her outstretched hands and saves Nagi from falling (as she was tossed by Dolly). Dolly now breaks up both mentally and physically which causes Nagi to worry about her and Hayate falling. Hayate tells her to not worry and they begin falling; Hayate shows Nagi Kurotsubaki and it is shown that both hands are on the eight. Nagi now confesses to Hayate and Hayate (not viewing her romantically still) sidesteps and tells her to cherish that emotion. At this point it has been raining money for about a minute and we shifts quickly to Yukiji and Hina. Hina tells her sister it is raining money and Yukiji tells her she doesn't care as she can just win money again while toasting to herself (or something, she hits two beer cans together). We now shift to Tsugumi, Isumi, and Saku. Saku asks Isumi if she thinks Hayate and Nagi are alright and Isumi says she knows they are. We finally shift to inside Kurotsubaki where it is shown that Shin succeeded in getting the miracle (even though he doesn't look that good cross dressing) and he and Yukkyun are finally reunited. One more thing happens where Dolly falls out of the sky and Nagi comforts her and Dolly passes on.
Now the credits roll in a similar way to how they did during episode three (which I haven't written up) with events happening in the background. Kaoru (yay! you made it into two episodes) is shown yelling at Yukiji and Hina is shown to be tired. Saku and Isumi are shown at the airport with Saku having to lead Isumi around. Tsugumi is shown giving Shin's ring to Nagi and before Tsugumi and Shidou leave Shidou removes his plague mask, revealing that he is quite handsome to both Hayate and Nagi's surprise. After the credits Hayate and Nagi are shown at Yukariko's grave. Nagi puts Kurotsubaki and, probably, Shin's ring on Yukariko's grave. Nagi comments on how it is impressive that Yukiji managed to win so much money while holding Kurotsubaki and Hayate points out that she lost the money soon after and had she taken the money while in the helicopter she would have lost Hina. Then, Hayate wonders if Yukkyun died thinking her husband was having an affair and Nagi responds by saying that misunderstandings are a part of life and true love overcomes misunderstandings. They head back to the house for Salisbury steak (I guess Hina's making that meal) and the camera pans up to a star, likely a reference to Yukkyun (I hope).
That was an excellent finale to the anime in my opinion. The only real disappointment in my opinion is that Hina didn't really get any exciting action besides cutting up a column in midair. I guess it can be said that she didn't fight Dolly due to the fact that they were high up and she is afraid of heights. The Isumi, Yukiji, and Maria action not to mention the Hayate action, both when possessed by Shin and as himself, make up for a lack of Hina action though. I was quite impressed at how well Shin did things; I guess he really did become a full butler of the Sanzenin before he died. Finally, I quite liked the scene between Shin and Yukkyun as it was quite nice to see that my guess earlier about Shin sacrificing himself was correct and it was nice to see them reunited. So that ends this write-up, I at some point will do a complete write-up of my thoughts about this anime in general so look forward to it.
